In the last several years, trucking has undergone major reconstruction. When it comes to companies, most have invested in technology, not driver benefits.

As I think about it, going on sitting for almost 48 hours with no pay; it tells me that this industry is all about self and not blood, which is the drivers.

As more drivers are pumped out of company schools and 3 day training programs to become a "professional truck driver," "where you can be a paid tourist." Really??

Anyways, not going there right now. As drivers now a days, many feel beaten to the point where they don't have any fight left and the next generation of truck drivers who like and don't know the true freedom of the road. No one gives each other support. "Let the company handle it" is the attitude. For years, I have tried to get drivers to understand that we have the power; not by striking, not by boycotting, or even by means of work slow downs. The true damage can come down from being legal; run logs legal, shut down early if you have to,vknow the area for stops you are going into, parking and crime.

If you have equipment issues that could land you a ticket, get it fixed. If you get someone who says worry about it later, tell them you can't, it's a safety issue!

Drivers we have the power, we just need to agree! Don't take it from behind!

So you suggest that the best way to show or disappointment with the way things are in the trucking industry is to run legal ? To make repairs to our trucks when they need them ? Yea that will show them how ticked off we are . If we just do our jobs they way they want us to. I run legal, and drive safe , I'm. Mad. BTW I ran 900 mls in 24 hrs legally, I run an e log , can't cheat it . If you work for a company that wants you to run illegal, and busted unsafe equipment, your best way to teach that company is to report them to the dot , and find yourself a new job. Waller truck co runs strictly legal , safe equipment, and they pay for Down time. Their drivers make money , they don't worry bout tickets . So tell me how doing your job correctly, safely , is going to change the industry ? It's not its just going to make you a better , less stressed driver .

Running legal will in turn limit the companies from making the companies telling the drivers to "fudge" things some companies run legal to the t and that's great! Others force drivers, and yea they need to leave their, but when a newbie comes in through a trucking company school many are never given the truth and are threatened that they will be fired and or worse, the stuff above may make common sense but I have seen it less and less, same with the "selfish" attitude that we never back each other up,no one has respect for each other yet demands respect. I am working here for now only because my company was brought out by the people I worked for. Many drivers here don't know much out of this company.
