A little background before I go into what I did learn yesterday. There is one lady with OOIDA that I lost all respect for during the Arrow debacle. She reared her ugly head into my target range again yesterday. This upset me higher for one reason:
Yesterday was the only day off I had taken in a long time. Even on vacation in March, I spent a few hours on the computer and phone each day with the drivers. On vacation, I even built the Wishes On Wheels Midsouth website. I took the day off for health reasons. I went to move my leg on Sunday, and it wouldn't move. I did not need added stress when my back decided to give out. That being said, the day off would not happen.
I did a Call to Arms  concerning Westboro going to Joplin. Thank each of you that helped make it go viral. It is good to see people standing up for what's right. Sunday, reports started coming in that the drivers at the J in Joplin had some of the WBC cult blocked in at the J. While watching the feed lining up in Joplin, even news reporters were talking about said drivers creating a blockade. A television anchor reporting it through tweets confirmed it well enough to me. It went VIRAL!
Fast forward to Sandi Soendecker:

Sandy Long May 29 at 4:42pm Report Just got word from Sandi Soendeker who called the J itself that nothing happened there...wondered why I couldn't find any news reports of it...
Margies Sh turned out to not be true. A very good friend of mine that is the Managing Editor of a well respected industry publication has spoken with Management at the Flying J who told her no such events occurred. Additionally, I have been able to find nothing in the media to corroborate this. As much as WBC disgusts me, I feel the need to clear this up. What's right is right.21 hours ago · Like

So, yesterday afternoon, I called the J and talked to the manager, a friendly woman named Stephanie. She said this did not take place in their parking lot. She did, however, confirm the reports were true, just at a different truck stop. She said she was unsure which one, but asked me to check with the Petro. The Petro's manager, Joel, was clueless. So, I called Joplin Police, where I spoke to the EOC Officer named Shane. He called back after being briefed by the police chief. Here is the facts, the hardcore facts:
Steve Drain is a follower of Westboro. His name on twitter is @WBCSteve, as Margie Phelps informed me. They were there protesting, they weren't allowed entry to the memorial service though. This also came from the Phelps. So, reports indicating that they were a total no-show are inconsistent. Margie also confirmed via tweets that the truckers had someone blocked in (taunting unrelentlessly that we had their goons instead of the actual Phelps, telling us to let the poor saps go and come to them). She also tweeted that when Steve struck at a driver, he was showing "God's Wrath." The police department in Joplin confirmed that Drain was detained and escorted off the county. Officers from other precincts who had volunteered to help were the ones who handled Steve. Since there were no arrests, there was no report made. Therefore, not even the chief of police knows what happened. They can neither confirm nor deny that the truckers had blocked anyone in. They will, however, say that they are well aware the truckers were helping that day, and that they've been helping since day one. They are appreciative of everything everyone is doing. We  will never have a full count of trucker fatalities due to the tornado. Basically, there will never be a full recount of what happened on Sunday. I know truckers that were there, at the actual peace rally.

I am asking for one favor. If ANY of you have pictures of the truckers taking action that day in Joplin, just ONE picture, email it to me at trkrsvoice@thetruckersvoice.net! It seems everyone else that did anything felt bragging rights. I want to show them yall were there, and yall did good.! Don't let OOIDA debunk your efforts!
